The wife decided last night that we don’t really have a need for 4 vehicles now that we have the new van. We already planned on selling the 1992 once I get it painted, but she thought why not list mine too.
I told her I wouldn’t be able to sell it for what it’s worth to me, but she said put a number on it and see what happens.
I found a number:

I think I’ve asked this before, but whats the going rate for a kidney these days? There’s no rea son for two...right?
I wish I could take this off your hands.

NOOOOOOO
Though it’ll never sell at that price, so you’ll still have the three.

Welp :(

I get it’s a “make me sell” number, but I think that’s aiming for the stars.

Have she seen this yet? Ha!

It’s going to take someone that loves these as much as you do to pay that for it. Maybe you’ll get lucky and that person won’t see your ad. But hey, you’ve complied with the directive you were given.

Thats literally the oldest trick in the book. Doesnt mean it doesnt work ;)

I want to make sure I understand here: once you sell the ‘92, you’re down to three cars, right? I’ve always been of the opinion that with two drivers in the house, three cars is better than two just in case something goes wrong (assuming it’s not causing a financial burden) . You never know when you’re going to find a flat tire, an empty gas tank, or a dead battery at exactly the wrong time. Having the third car is a safety net in my opinion. Besides that, the rally van has a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in it. Saying goodbye to it would just suck.
I fully recognize I’m preaching to the choir on all these points. :)

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, right?
I had to laugh when the dealer I bought my truck from listed my Cube for $8390. Ok, it was low mileage (only 70k), but it was a base model AND a manual, which is not exactly a popular combo. It eventually dropped to $5300 and they sold it not long after.

Ya, I don’t want it gone, and I told her it wouldn’t leave for a penny less than $8k. I know it’s not worth that, but it’s worth it to me, so that’s what it’s listed at.
IF someone buys it at $8k, I’ll just build another and keep the remaining $6500.....

She knew right out I was going to put it up for more than it was worth, not trying to pull a fast one.

Yep, was her idea.

These are all over the board around here honestly. I’ve seen clean ones for $1500 sit for months, meanwhile I’ve watched 2 listed over $5k sell in under 2 weeks.
I know $8k is damn high, but that’s what it would take for me to actually let it go.

How’d she like the sale price?

No offense to you or anyone on Oppo, but I wouldn’t sell it to a fellow Oppo.
I know it would be a damn good vehicle for someone, but i t would drive me nuts seeing someone else with it, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Maybe on the condition that it could never be posted about on Oppo again....

She said price it high enough that it would take that one person to buy it, so that’s where it’s at.

with all the work you put into it, that might not be a crazy number to start negotiations. someone will pay for it but I think your hardest part is going to be finding that person. I can’t imagine a large Dodge Caravan following. Its probably the best condition Caravan I’ve seen since the 90's
Edit: Plymouth V oyager..... same difference.

Sell it to Elon so he can send it into space to catch up and rear end the voyager probe.

I don’t blame ya. Whomever it goes to (if it even goes) , I hope they che rish it as well as you did.

I was in the same position with the Galant VR-4 for a long time. What is sell it For was no where near a reasonable price. Anytime some one wanted to buy it I told them 4500 bucks and they shut up. And I was happy.
Of coarse then it broke and I sold it for 1500 bucks
![]() 07/16/2019 at 16:10 |

Have you considered putting it on BaT? perhaps an auction type sell will get you at or above the 8k price.

Some dealers are nuts. I once tried to buy a diesel F350 from a dealer that I watched slowly drop from $23k to $18k over three months . I test drove it when it was around $20k, told them I’d buy it for $18k and they balked. A month later when it was listed at $18k I told them I’d buy it for $17.5 and they agreed. Went to buy and on the drive to get it inspected it was immediately apparent shit was wrong, there was absolutely no boost (which wasn’t the case when I first drove it). Got back told them no way unless they want to part with it for $14k at which point the manager told me to take a hike and he’s sending it to auction.
I still wonder how much they gave that guy for trade-in value.

Really hard to determine what it’s worth. It might be worth 8k to the right person, but it’ll probably be difficult to find that person. Also, listed price doesn’t necessarily equal sale price.
![]() 07/16/2019 at 16:30 |

She has a point, and if its clean enough in rust belt USA, you might find someone
![]() 07/16/2019 at 16:35 |
|
Now with that high of price someone is bound to offer you $7,450.
![]() 07/16/2019 at 16:54 |

Oh, then I’m out (as if I had 8k sitting in the bank lol) because I would offroad the hell out of that van with a stupidly big smile on my face.

It does in this case, or there is no sale.
![]() 07/17/2019 at 06:58 |

Only $7,997 to go......
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:02 |

I mean I would enjoy watching that.......
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:03 |

“Huh, seems you’re $550 short”
“I’ll tell you what, I’ll let you have it for $8,500 for wasting my time”
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:04 |

She has a point
That is usually the case.....

:D
$3/2, 667 months. you’ll let me pay it off right?
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:25 |
|
Not that interested in selling it......
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:26 |
|
I don’t want/nor need to sell it, so it won’t go for a penny less right now.
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:28 |

Had something really dark in response, decided a simple “how about no” was a better answer.
![]() 07/17/2019 at 07:30 |
|
Honestly, there will be no negotiations, it’s $8k cash or it stays with me. I don’t need to sell it, nor do I want to, so that’s what number it would take to actually sell it.
![]() 07/17/2019 at 08:15 |

got ya. i’m interested to see how this goes. Have you gotten any responses yet?
![]() 07/17/2019 at 08:44 |

If you were going to suggest I be rocketed into space I would totally be down for that.

Far darker, not involving you.....

Haven’t actually posted it yet, gotta grab the card so I can ( Yay for having to pay to post on CL now! ).
I guessing I won’t hear anything from anyone once it is posted though...
